About Manly Sea Eagles

The Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles entered the competition in 1947 and quickly developed into one the most successful teams in the competition. The Sydney Northern Beaches club has won 8 Premierships and are a one of few clubs who have proven success across a consistent period, with their Grand Final wins occurring across five consecutive decades. Throughout this period, Manly were led by greats of the game including the likes of Bob Fulton, Cliff Lyons, Max Krillich, Paul Vautin and Steve Menzies.

Although spending two years as the Northern Eagles, a merged club with the North Sydney Bears, Manly-Warringah was reinstated as a standalone NRL club in 2002. The years following were bare in success for Manly until their playing stocks improved in the mid 00’s under the coaching of club legend Des Hasler.

Between the years of 2007 and 2013, Manly appeared in six Grand Finals, winning two in 2008 and 2011. The Sea Eagles’ 40 nil victory over the Storm in 2008 is the largest victory in a Grand Final and also saw the farewell of club legend Steve Menzies.

A club that have been known as the “Silvertails” and a team which everyone loves to hate, Manly have become one of the toughest and most respected teams in the NRL. Another testament to the competitiveness of the club is that they have never received a wooden spoon in their 70-year history.
