How will Caulfield play with the rail in for the first time in weeks?
After having two weeks off, the inside section of the Caulfield Race track is back in action, with the rail returning to its true position from the previous 9m out. We have not seen dramatic track bias over the past few weeks at this venue whilst the rail has been out, with the track playing evenly and punters witnessing winners saluting from on and off pace.
It will be interesting to see how the inner part of the track has returned after its break and this bears a close watch throughout the early part of the card. Typically the rail back in the true position should work slightly in favour of horses with a run on profile.
Race 6 #1 Rich Charm
High quality sprinter who achieved overdue Group success last start at Flemington. He is very adaptable and can take the suck run just in behind the leaders or drop back to be worse than midfield if there is speed. Loves this track where he’s a winner three from four starts and from gate 1 Patrick Moloney can call all the shots. Will be storming over them late.
Rich Charm is currently $8.50 fixed odds.
Race 7 #8 Island Missile
They unlocked the key to this gelding last start in the Gosford Guineas, where intentionally or not he got well back (albeit in the small field of 7) before rattling home to just miss. The money was on that day with strong support throughout betting, and it all points to Peter and Paul Snowden having a huge opinion of this gelding. The stable have to be confident to be making the effort travelling south to contest here. Strong support inside the last few minutes of betting would not surprise.
Island Missile is currently $8.50 fixed odds.
