Smart money at Hawkesbury & Caulfield revealed
Punters were back in the money last week after our early market movers report found 2 out of 3 winners at Caulfield and 1 winner from 5 at Randwick. Punters taking starting prices on each of the eight market movers found themselves almost doubling their cash outlay with 94% profit on turnover.
The team has assessed all the early market movements at both Hawkesbury and Caulfield this coming Saturday. Here's our report. We hope it helps again.
Hawkesbury Market Movers
IN TIMES OF WAR
Honest mare who finished third first-up. Consistent without a win last preparation finishing close behind thoroughbreds who are well rated at this level. Expect improvement here and another solid effort.
Comes off two easy trials where he looked good in both. Placed at each of his three first-up runs. Winner at this distance and expect the track to suit his running style. Contender.
First-up last preparation he didn't fire in the Doomben 10,000 against the likes of Redzel. Prior to that he had a 2-1-0 first-up record from 5 starts. Has finished within a few lengths of some of the best sprinters in the land with big weight. Should get a nice sit behind the speed from barrier 7 and any sting out of the ground will benefit him further.
Comes off two impressive recent trials at Rosehill where he finished second and then won by 3 lengths at his latest. Raced very consistently last preparation, proven on all types of going and has a good record fresh. Early speed competition comes closer to the rails which should see him get across to his preferred leading position which I expect to be advantageous at Hawkesbury on Saturday. Go well.
Ran well first-up in the G2 Sapphire a few weeks ago at Randwick, finishing 2.3L fourth over 1200m when she was strong through the line. She is 2-1-0 over the 1300m. Will want the pace as strong as it was last start which looks likely with a few early speedsters in the mix. Likes it wet or dry.
Won first-up in her previous preparation and was strong in her 1030m trial win at Rosehill a few weeks ago. Drawn well to get a good position in the running with Clark aboard. Contender.
The quieter ride was rewarded at her recent outing when finishing with a solid run to claim the prize. Forgive her run the race before that after finishing lame at Canterbury. Put in solid performances against good company in her last preparation over this distance. Makes appeal.
Has put in two cracking runs this preparation, the latest on Easter Monday saw him blitz the field by 4L over 1800m at Rosehill. Opposition here isn't any better. Has won up to 2200m. Hard to beat.
Caulfield Market Movers
Massive move for this 5-year-old gelding who earned his attention from the market after blitzing the Class 1 field by six lengths when first-up at Pakenham. Won his trial before that. Well drawn to take his favoured forward position, and on the back of his last run looks hard to beat.
Like her first-up last preparation when 1.5L behind Booker who was very good in the Oakleigh Plate. Weight goes on but opposition isn't as tough. Expect a show.
Looks set to get a lovely cart here if she can position well in the running, with a bunch of speedsters expected to contest the awkward 1400m start at Caulfield. Should be lots of opportunity for this mare to conserve energy and set herself to have a crack at them in the straight. Winner first-up and at the distance. Genuine chance.
Comes off three impressive career runs. Carried 60kg at his latest, was held up in the run for home and still managed to win by 1L. Needs to find cover from the wide draw, but with even luck will take a power of beating.
UK horse who was good enough on debut in Australia when 1.8L fourth behind Magic Consol. Trialled well in Sydney before that run. Will be fitter for his debut run and not much more challenging him here in this race.
TOP OF THE RANGE
Has run well in all but one of his five races this campaign. Was solid at his last outing when he just couldn't get to Magic Consol. Gets his preferred dry track here and can go one better.
