About Daisy Pearce

Daisy Pearce is the current captain of the Melbourne Demons in the AFLW, as well as a sideline commentator for channel 7 during the AFL season.

Coming from the Victorian Alpine town of Bright, Pearce has played Aussie Rules since the age of 5. In the creation of the AFLW, Pearce has been one of the marquee players around which the competition has gained traction in the media. An outstanding midfielder who can do it all, Pearce won Melbourne’s inaugural best and fairest award in 2017 and has picked up the AFLW Players’ award for best captain in both 2017 and 2018.

Mirroring her leadership on the pitch, Pearce has emerged as one of the voices for the women’s game by her widespread presence in the media. She has written articles for Fairfax media and has appeared on radio for Triple M, discussing both the women’s and men’s game. However, it is her presence on television as a sideline commentator for matches in the 2017 and 2018 seasons, as well as panel member on Sunday’s AFL Game Day program that have established Pearce as one of the up-and-coming voices in the AFL media scene.

With the kind of insight that can only be provided by a current player of the game, Pearce is an invaluable member for Channel 7’s free-to-air coverage. But more than that, she is an ambassador of the women’s game. This was signified on the 7th March 2017 when she became the first woman elected as a director on the AFL Players Association board. Many fans of the game will be hoping that Pearce continues the upward trajectory in her trailblazing career for years to come.
