Michael Charge is a man who lives and breathes North Queensland racing.
Since 2017, he has served as SKY Racing's host for race meets held from Rockhampton all the way up to Cairns. While the sheer distance alone would be enough to dampen the spirit of most, "Chargey" is always at his endearing and down-to-earth best when he's in front of the camera, making him one of SKY viewer's favourite presenters.
Before taking up his role as a SKY Racing tipster, Charge was the CEO of the Townsville Turf Club. It was here that he learnt his trade in front of the camera, often providing mounting yard mail for Townsville races as part of his many duties.
As well as providing quality interviews with Queensland jockeys, trainers and racing personalities, it is his punting insights and tips that have become so sought after in recent times. As of April 2020, Michael Charge tips have generated in excess of $13K in profit over 180 days, making him the best media expert or professional punter in Australia by this measure.
This phenomenal achievement can be attributed to hard work as much as anything. Charge can spend up to seven hours analysing the form for each meet that he provides his tips for.
This includes extensive video as well as paper analysis, and reading stewards reports. On top of this, Charge factors in all the information he comes across in his day-to-day dealings with local trainers, track workers and jockeys.
Considering how immersed he is in the racing scene in the sunshine state, it's no surprise Michael Charge tips have become so sought after.
But more importantly than that, his good humour and likeable and casual manner perfectly suit the tropical backdrop of North Queensland.
