A great card has been assembled at Royal Randwick this Saturday, with the Group 2 Villiers Stakes to be run over the nation's most famous mile.
I'm expecting a hot tempo in the feature event and have favoured runners that have the ability to get home hard over the top.
The Razor Sharp Handicap and high benchmark races provide worthy support acts and all look to be wide open betting affairs.
I've bet around the favourite in all and have identified the runners which are less well found and appear value.
Race 6 Razor Sharp Hcp (Listed) 1200m
The money was there last start for Firsthand (6) to suggest he was going very well and he showed enough when finishing third behind My Nordic Hero over 1400m at Rosehill.
Have to respect Team Hawkes for dropping a runner back in distance off a slight freshen, a plan that has been successful for many stables all throughout Spring/Summer.
Certainly feel he is the one that is less exposed than many, and you can be sure the mug money will come for the more high profile runners.
Speed looks only moderate and Cradle Mountain (9) can jump straight on the bunny, with Deploy (1) the only challenger for the front over the initial stages.
Expect the Godolphin brains trust to instruct the rider to be much closer on Marsupial (8), with Burning Passion (3) another that will be ridden closer to speed.
The speed map suggests that you do not want to be too far back in this.

Race 7 Villiers Stakes (G2) 1600m
Love the profile of My Nordic Hero (5) here who is third-up and ready to peak at Group 2 level, over his most suitable distance of 1600m.
He was good first-up and again last start, when he showed a dynamic turn of foot to come from well back in the field to win at Rosehill over 1500m.
The professional money was there for him all throughout early betting last week, and if that appears again he should be very hard to beat.
Skyboy (13) should lead in a race that looks to have a few who will press forward and create a genuine tempo.
He will be able to bluff Fabrizio (1) out of it, who is likely to be posted outside the leader for the entire trip.
Just feel the tough Randwick mile will find the front running favourite Sky Boy (13) out on this occasion.
The race should favour the run-on profiles and the best of these outside of those above-mentioned appear to be Gaulois (14) and Doubt Defying (9), who can both find positions midfield with cover.
Look for them both to be storming home late to collar Sky Boy in the shadows.

Race 8 Total Construction Benchmark 88 1600m
There appears to be a distinct lack of speed in this event, with plenty of these racing midfield or worse as their preferred pattern.
Arraignment (13) looks the most likely to take up the running with Vaucluse Bay (8) and Tip Top (7) handy.
Tip Top (7) was well backed late last start at Rosehill and was not too far off the winner when finishing 3 of 10.
He can be ridden closer here and that will favour on a track he enjoys (4:1-2-0).
Oragnza (15) was brilliant last start and although well found by the mug, has to be considered a leading chance following the dynamic Rosehill win.
Just needs luck to find cover, however she can still win if forced to get will back.
Best of the rest are Fierce Impact (9) and Roman Son (4) who should both press forward to take positions in the first half of the field.

Race 9 Australian Turf Club (BM 78) 1400m
Penske (5) and King Tomlola (6) will be keen to cross here from their wide draws. This will inject a decent amount of speed in the event early, with Gresham (3) and Campari (14) receiving a nice cart across with them.
Gresham (3) has to carry plenty of weight (61kg), however he looked good last start when held up and still managed a close up 4 of 11 at Rosehill.
With any luck from the wide draw, he will be in the finish.
Penske (5) has shown he is a strong on-pace contender and certainty has the ability to keep kicking deep into the straight. If the leaders get away with some cheap sectionals at any stage throughout, he is the one.
Of the others, Mr Tickets (7) creates interest from the Mark Newnham yard who are in white hot form and have one of the best strike rates in Sydney.
He will find an ideal position just behind the speed and could surprise a few at a price.
