Drifters at The Gardens
This week’s lay selections feature runners that are stepping up on two different levels.
One must take a significant leap in grade as he makes his debut in Saturday class.
The other will be making a very rare appearance amongst boys, after being kept to her own sex for the majority of her career.
Both look well unders and you can expect them to be significant market drifters as we approach race start time.
Rosehill Race 1 #8 Safado $3.50
Has come up well under the odds at $3.50, in a race with an abundance of stakes class horses and up and coming talent.
The midweek runs have been good, but this is completely different and the step-up to Saturday class looks a stretch.
The horse is now qualified for the Provincial Championship following the win at Hawkesbury, however the stable will not be out to break any records with a grand final still on the horizon.
This looks far too ambitious from the Kim Waugh yard and I doubt she will tell punting tragic and life partner Junior, to have a bet on this occasion.
Avoid at all costs. Lay.
Rosehill Race 5 #11 Verry Elleegant $3.90
Could not go anywhere near race favourite Verry Elleegant at the current poison quote of $3.90.
For a horse that rarely races outside of fillies grade, the price is ridiculous.
This race is deep and although she's coming out of some strong form races, she has not set the world on fire at her recent outings.
The market looks to have been carried away with the last start Amphitrite and Fundamentalist form, in what appears to be a massive overreaction to my eye.
Expect a market drift out toward $5, where I could only still be lukewarm on her chances. No.
