About Shane Warne

Regarded by most as the greatest test bowler of all time, Shane Warne incredibly started his sporting career as a footy player, making it as high as the St Kilda reserves team in 1988, before being delisted. And he never looked back. Well, not unless you count appealing for LBW as looking back.

In one of the most celebrated cricket careers of all time, Warne took 708 test wickets, while chipping in with a shouldn’t-be-forgotten 3,154 test runs. This stupendous cricket career also included 69 first class 5fers, and 12 times recording at least 10 wickets in a match. However, Warne’s career is less about the stats, and more about the cocky pomp of it all. The balls he bowled. The hairstyles he had. His off-field ‘antics’. No player in history has captured as much attention and sense of impending danger as when Warne had the ball in his hand, about to toss it up into the rough.

Now, Warne is a commentator and pundit in England as well as here in Australia. Always direct and opinionated, often insightful, and occasionally ridiculous, Warne will forever go down as one of the greatest servants to the game of cricket. However, it is not just cricket pitches that Warne will cast his one blue and one green eye over, as he will be sure to be following the AFL with great interest.

Let it not be forgotten that he started his sporting days as an Aussie Rules player. Still a proud Melbournian and keen follower of the AFL and his beloved Saints, Warne will be hoping that they can channel some of his success and clinch their second flag in years to come. Warney will be hoping to translate his piercing knowledge and confidence into tipping success—definitely a tipster to follow for a bit of fun.
