David Gately is a horse racing journalist and form analyst. His astute commentary and selections can be found across several media sources including Best Bets, TattsBet and Racing.com.
Gately’s interest in rating and tipping horses began at the age of seventeen when he started developing betting systems and analysing horse races as a hobby. Gately decided to try to make a career out of his hobby, creating his own website in 2003 that detailed his tips and form analysis for the Sydney and Melbourne metropolitan meets. This enterprising approach soon earned Gately a tipping career, with regular appointments at popular racing publications quickly leading to full time employment at Best Bets. These days, Gately’s selections as well as insight are featured on Racing.com as well as Best Bets.
Gately, or ‘Gators’ as he is more affectionately known in the punting scene, tips during the week on metropolitan and country race meetings in addition to weekend meetings where his focus typically turns to the major metropolitan meetings in Sydney and Melbourne. Gately now is one of the most respected names amongst Australia’s professional racing experts and social punters alike.
Gately's tips have been recorded at theGreatTipOff.com since July 2009. In line with the 'Best bets if available' policy which was in place up to May 2018, all Gately's tips are recorded where he doesn't offer a best bet. If best bets are offered only these were recorded to his tipping history within this time-frame. From May 2018 onwards all of Gately’s selections are recorded with his best bets recorded with a double the stake. You can analyse Gately’s tipping performance for an even stake or using a higher stake on best bets here.
