Get the good oil for Rosehill & Sandown
The weather is looking likely to play a key factor this weekend, with contrasting surfaces expected at Sandown and Rosehill.
Sandown has hardened to a Good 3 following two sweltering days in Melbourne, however the forecast looks grim with predictions of up to 110mm of rain to fall over the next two days. If that happens, expect the track to be a swamp with the meeting possibly abandoned. There was a meeting scheduled at Benalla on Saturday and racing authorities have already postponed it in anticipation of the severe weather.
Rosehill on the other hand will play beautifully. The track is currently rated a Good 4 and the possibility of a few light showers will provide runners ideal conditions come race day.
This week I opted for two selections at Rosehill and both are currently in the money. Taking the weather outlook for Sandown into consideration, I have gone with one runner who relishes wet conditions. For a look at the entire set of my selections at Rosehill and Sandown on Saturday morning, read more here.
Race 5 #6 Sedanzer
Battled on gamely when winning first up and she’s two-from-two second up. Jumping from barrier six gives the mare an opportunity to settle with cover midfield and I expect her to be charging home over the final two hundred metres. $3.60
Race 6 #4 Savapinski
Another flyer from the Waterhouse-Bott stable, she was brilliant winning the Matriarch on Stakes Day beating Payroll by three lengths who has since won, franking that form. Expect her to roll forward from barrier seven and run away with it from the final bend. $2.25
Race 7 #1 Jungle Edge
If the rain predictions hold true, there is no way that this mudlark will be anywhere near $3.40 on Saturday morning. His form line in the rain is immense with all 12 of his wins coming on soft or heavy. $3.40
