Which horses get the favours at Randwick on Saturday?
The rail is out 6m from the 1600m to the winning post and 4m the remainder at Randwick this week. With the track currently rated a Soft 7 and fine weather forecast, expect an upgrade to a Soft 5 by race one. The soft track condition and the rail out 6m in the straight should suit on pace-runners and those drawing the inside barriers.
Race 1 #6 The Pinnacle
Was well supported in betting and gave her all against the males last start. Over the same track and distance, the team Snowden trained galloper gets her chance to win here. With limited speed engaged, the race will be run at a slow tempo and it’s likely we’ll see the mare able to dictate from the front.
Drawn barrier seven, expect jockey Corey Brown to head straight to the rails and reel off some steady sectionals. The biggest threats in the race come from Karavali and Nettoyer, who both map to be ridden off the pace.
It proves a hard task to run down a leader who gets away with moderate sectionals and if there is any on-pace bias, that task is made even more difficult. The Pinnacle gets all the favours in this race and has been backed accordingly, into $3.10 from $3.60 openers.
Randwick Race 8 #9 Sugar Bella
Boasts an impressive win record of five wins from six starts. The Kris Lees trained mare is two-from-two at Randwick and two-from-two over Saturday’s distance of 1200 metres.
The daughter of Not a Single Doubt finds a race with plenty of speed engaged. Drawn perfectly in barrier three, jockey Jason Collet will be able to position himself a few pairs off the leading group, who are likely to be strung out as they enter the home turn.
Blessed with a strong turn-of-foot, expect Sugar Bella to be charging through the pack and claiming the leaders late. Sugar Bella is currently $3.70 fixed odds.
