Punters struggle on both fronts
It was a tough weekend for punters, with the results at the track and on the field just not going their way.
Even with the help of the betting promotions, it was very difficult to make inroads.
Nevertheless, some bookies' promos fared better than others. Read on to find out which ones they were.
Bookie Promos: How punters fared last weekend
||Racing & Sport
Neds Betting Promotions
Neds' bonus bet return for your fixed odds win bet running a place was available in races 1-4 at Rosehill, Caulfield and the Sunshine Coast.
In a horror showing for punters, just one favourite won across these 12 races.
However, we've listed this promo as "OK" due to the fact that plenty of the favs were sneaking home for a place.
There were an additional 7 favs in all, who all found a place in these 12 races.
That meant a bonus bet return for all the punters who backed them.

Ladbrokes Betting Promotions
Ladbrokes' leading betting promotion was their enhanced odds, available this week for every runner in races 1-4 in Caulfield and Rosehill.
Those who used this promo to back $2.50 favourite King Of Hastings in Caulfield Race 1 were cheering, as it gave them a much better price.
However, it was slim pickings after this, with no other fav getting the job done.
It was tough going in the AFL too.
Ladbrokes offered enhanced odds of $2.75 for Dangerfield and Sloane to combine for 55+ touches and 1+ goal.
While Sloane had a good game on Friday night, Danger was quiet after copping a heavy knock in the forward line.
They ended up with 54 disposals and 0 goals.

Pointsbet Betting Promotions
Pointsbet's racing promo fared a bit better, owing to the fact that it extended to cover races 5 and 6 at Rosehill.
This was a much needed stroke of fortune for punters, as the favs won both of these races in Sydney.
It was a disaster on the sporting front though.
Poinstbet offered odds of $2.25 for Pendlebury to record 25+ touches and the Pies to win.
While he easily surpassed 25 disposals, Collingwood were stunned by North Melbourne in one of the many boilovers of Round 15.

BetEasy Betting Promotions
Speaking of the upsets in the AFL, they weren't good news for BetEasy punters.
That's because this bookie dished up their usual multi special, where your stake was returned as a bonus bet if your 4+ leg head-to-head multi lost by just one leg.
With so many shock results, most punters were sure to lose their AFL multis.
It was a similar story in the NRL, with no less than 5 of the underdogs getting the job done.
It's hard to bag a multi when there are this many upsets.

Sportsbet Betting Promotions
Sportsbet's standard bonus bet return for a fixed odds win bet running 2nd or 3rd was up for grabs in races 1-4 at Rosehill and Caulfield.
As mentioned above, these races didn't see many happy returns for punters.
Sportsbet's sports promos were also duds.
None of their AFL and NRL early payouts saw a side other than the winner paid out.
TAB Betting Promotions
TAB's racing special saw a bonus bet return in races 1-5 at Caulfield and Rosehill.
This did slightly better than Sportsbet's racing promo, with the fav winning Rosehill Race 5.
But it was TAB's CWC promo that has been seeing some decent results.
Place a high bat bet, and if your player notches up a half-century and isn't the top scorer, your stake is returned as a bonus bet.
With plenty of batsman scoring 50 and not top scoring in recent games, this promo was good value.
