American League goes for 10
The 93rd edition of the Midsummer Classic will be played on Tuesday, July 11, at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington.
The American League will be looking to extend its winning streak to 10 games, while the National League will be looking to snap that streak and avoid its longest losing streak since 1996.
The rosters for the All-Star Game were announced on July 5, and there are some exciting players who will be taking part.
In the American League, Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels will be making his second consecutive All-Star Game appearance as both a pitcher and a hitter.
Ohtani is the first player since Babe Ruth in 1933 to do so.
Other notable players on the AL roster include Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees, Home Run Derby winner Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Toronto Blue Jays, and Byron Buxton of the Minnesota Twins.
The NL roster is also stacked with talent, including Bryce Harper of the Philadelphia Phillies, Manny Machado of the San Diego Padres, and Ronald Acuna Jr. of the Atlanta Braves.
The 2023 All-Star Game is sure to be a memorable one, and I can't wait to see who comes out on top.
2023 MLB All Star Game Stats & Insights
The American League is the clear favourite to win the 2023 All-Star Game.
They have won 9 straight games, and they have a much stronger lineup than the National League on current form.
The AL has Aaron Judge, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Shohei Ohtani, and Byron Buxton, all of whom are having MVP-caliber seasons.
The NL has some great players, too, but they don't have the same depth as the AL.
Here are the key stats to look at heading into the feature:
- The AL has a combined .330 batting average, .436 on-base percentage, and .571 slugging percentage.
The NL has a combined .295 batting average, .379 on-base percentage, and .478 slugging percentage.
- The AL has 11 players with an OPS of .900 or higher.
The NL has 6 players with an OPS of .900 or higher.
- The AL has 8 players with 20 or more home runs.
The NL has 5 players with 20 or more home runs.
While the batting stats heavily favour the AL, the pitching dual is much more competitive.
The starting pitchers for the AL and NL are Gerrit Cole and Zac Gallen, respectively.
Cole has historically been the better pitcher, but Gallen has been pitching this season putting him as the favourite in the NL to win the CY Young.
2023 MLB All Star Game Betting Picks & Predictions
We have an even market as is standard for these games.
The value always lies with the AL and led by the Japanese sensation Ohtani, I would be backing them in @ $1.91.
