The Everest update 5 October 2017
The Everest - now Australia's and the world's richest turf thoroughbred
race, is quickly becoming the key talking point of Spring.
While the race doesn't hold any Group status for at least the first year of
its running, few can deny that the The Everest has
attracted a mountain of interest here and internationally.
Top class horses are nominated and prices are beginning to roll as interest
continues to grow in the inaugural race over 1200m on October 14th.
With only nine days until they jump in the big race here are some key
insights about the contenders and the race from our team of racing
She Will Reign
The Golden Slipper winner's finishing burst in the Moir Stakes was very impressive.
Bookies and early punters have understandably made her early favourite. Currently
$4.60 with Ladbrokes .
form analyst Matt Buckland
has earmarked Chautauqua as a strong contender for this race. Matt says
although he was disappointing in the Premiere Stakes last Saturday he can't
be dismissed. Currently showing good value at $6.
Another of Matt's horses to watch is the Gai Waterhouse - Adrian Bott,
trained English. Matt says he looks to be peaking at the right
time after finishing off superbly on Saturday
he is currently at $8
He ran a cruisy third in his trail at Rosehill on Tuesday. The Gerald Ryan
trained hopeful has come under strong attention from punters who have
backed him in to upset the more fancied runners. A little while ago he was
showing $11 in from $21 openers a little over twenty-four hours earlier.
