Steelers out to shine
Preseason Football Matchup Analysis
In the final preseason clash, the Pittsburgh Steelers (2-0, 2-0 ATS, 1-1 O/U) are set to face the Atlanta Falcons (2-0, 1-1 ATS, 0-2 O/U).
The Steelers started with a victory against the Bucs and followed up with a convincing 27-15 win over the Bills.
Similarly, the Falcons secured a win against the Dolphins and played to a 13-13 draw against the Bengals.
Last season, the Steelers managed a 16-13 road victory against the Falcons.
Pittsburgh Steelers Preseason Performances
The Steelers are striving for an undefeated preseason, securing two impressive wins.
Kenny Pickett is likely to sit out the final preseason game, allowing the deep QB roster to shine.
Mitch Trubisky, a former Chicago Bears starter, serves as the backup QB.
Trubisky, who signed an extension after a 4:5 TD to INT ratio last season, completed 10 of 13 passes for 78 yards against the Bills.
Mason Rudolph brings experience, with a 16:11 TD to INT ratio.
Despite not playing last season, Rudolph showcased his skills with 184 passing yards across two preseason games.
Tanner Morgan, the third-string QB, is entering his second year, displaying promise from his time with Minnesota in the Big Ten.
Backup RB Jaylen Warren impressed with 75 rushing yards on just four carries last game.
Despite a less potent receiving corps, Diontae Johnson and rookie George Pickens show promise.
Calvin Austin III had three receptions for 85 yards in two preseason games.
Last season, the Steelers averaged 18.1 points (26th) and allowed 20.4 points (10th) on defense.
Atlanta Falcons Preseason Performances
The Falcons, plagued by defensive issues last season, have shown preseason improvement.
They beat the Dolphins 19-3 and tied the Bengals 13-13 despite being favored by six points.
Desmond Ridder won't likely play; backup QB Taylor Heinicke, with 1859 passing yards in nine games last year, stepped in against the Bengals (13/21, 162 yards).
Logan Woodside, the third-string QB, displayed promise with 204 passing yards.
Rookie RB Bijan Robinson is expected to shine, while top WR Drake London had 866 receiving yards as a rookie.
The defence added players like cornerback Jeff Okudah.
Atlanta averaged 21.5 points (15th) and conceded 22.7 points (24th) last season.
Preseason Prediction
The Steelers under Coach Mike Tomlin usually strive for preseason wins.
They're 13-3 in the last 16 preseason games.
Falcons' Coach Arthur Smith is in his third season with a 4-4 exhibition record.
As this is the final preseason game, starters may see limited action.
Steelers' QB depth is notable, with Trubisky as backup and Rudolph as third-string.
Trubisky completed 65% of passes; Rudolph amassed 184 passing yards.
Prediction: Pittsburgh Steelers -3.5
